Psychological illness posters

I did some independent research into psychological illnesses and came across these typographical posters created by Manan Singh, I like his use of text, space and colour. This work inspired my own project for the conversation brief, as I am wanting to create simple poster designs to raise awareness for mental health sufferers.

Interesting Typeface

Designer Ji Lee created these literal typefaces to go with the words, he called this project 'Word as image'. I find it interesting as he isn't just thinking about one generic typeface for every word, he really tries to represent each word through the style he uses.
"When we were children, letters were like fun toys, we played with them through our building blocks. We coloured them in books. We danced and sang along with TV puppets while learning C was for 'cookie'. Soon, letters turned into words. Words turned into sentences. Sentences turned into thoughts. And along the way, we stopped playing with them and stopped marveling at A through Z." -Ji Lee

Creating a low-poly world in c4d

In my spare time I wanted to get more familiar with using Cinema 4D, and so I created this low-poly world using the extrude tool to create a bumpy surface. I think my overall world is a good first attempt, however I extruded the surface a bit too much.

Low-Poly Art

From looking at various different techniques and art styles I came across the low- poly art style, I find this style interesting and unique. pictures are created from geometric shapes and it creates a pleasing design.
Some of my favourite low-poly artworks are:

After some practice using Adobe illustrator in my spare time, I felt confident in making some final low-poly art of my own. I created these images using the pen tool and making triangles.

I used this technique for my final piece of my studio collide brief, I created a street scene and a butterfly animation using poly frames.

Tributes to the homeless using manholes

Artist Biancoshock decorated manholes to look like rooms in a pleasantly decorated but microscopic house, he did this to raise awareness of the thousands of homeless people in Burcharest, Romania who are living in sewers and underground tunnels.
This project is interesting as it is ambient and eye catching, just like an advertisement.

Street-Art Tribute to Palestinian Refugees

Barcelona artist Pejac tried to brighten the streets of a refugee camp in Jordan by etching out figures and shapes which represent hope and loss, it shows the journey the refugees had to take and the history of territory loss in Palestine.
I find this artwork interesting as he is trying to help the refugees to not lose hope, rather than helping in the same way as most people, such as donating food or clothes, he is physically going to the camp and changing what they see in their environment.
